A small girl living in a slum seeks aid for her sick and starving mother. When she runs into red tape at the charity office she goes to the local pawnbroker and offers her doll for food money. Isaac the pawnbroker is so touched by the gesture that he follows the girl to her apartment and pays for her mother's care.
