Orphaned Mary Lennox (O'Brien) is sent to live with her cold and uncaring Uncle Archibald Craven (Marshall), who has never recovered from his wife's death. He keeps his crippled son, Colin (Stockwell), a virtual prisoner in the house until Mary discovers his presence and befriends him. She also discovers a neglected hidden garden, once the pride of Mrs. Craven, which Mary secretly begins to tend. Touching tearjerker based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. O'Brien leads an outstanding cast in one of her final juvenile roles. In black and white, with Technicolor for later garden scenes.
