The Divided Union Movie Review 1987

Five-part series examines the causes of and the events leading up to the Civil War, as well as the course of the war itself up to its conclusion at the Appomattox court house. Differences in Northern and Southern culture, the rise of the Republican Party, origins and rise of slavery, Abraham Lincoln's early role, the industrialized economy of the North compared with the impact of the cotton gin on Southern economy, and other factors are explored.
