A Child Is Waiting Movie Review 1963

Poignant and provocative story of teachers in an institution for the mentally retarded. Fine performances include Lancaster as the institution's administrator and Garland as a teacher who cares too much for everyone's good. Cassavetes incorporates footage using handicapped children as extras--not entirely seamlessly--providing a sensitive and candid edge.
