Michell has been called the definitive Henry VIII, and this BBC Classic (shown as part of "Masterpiece Theatre" on PBS) was perhaps the most praised series on British TV. Henry's wives were: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. Each episode tells of their (sometimes tragic) fates as pawns in Henry's quest for an heir, and his changes from an eager young man to aged, bitter monarch.
