West of Hester Street Movie Review 1983

A look at Jewish immigrants from 1907 to 1914 who left Europe to escape persecution and who entered the United States not from Ellis Island but through the Port of Galveston, Texas. The film follows the progress of a young immigrant from Russia as he tries to adapt to a new life in Texas.
