His name was Mudd--a fitting moniker after he unwittingly aided President Lincoln's assassin. Dr. Mudd set John Wilkes Boothe's leg, broken during the assassination, and was jailed for conspiracy. He became a hero in prison for his aid during yellow fever epidemics and was eventually released. A strong and intricate performance by Weaver keeps this TV drama interesting. Mudd's descendants are still trying to completely clear his name of any wrongdoing in the Lincoln assassination.
