Story of Rocky Graziano's (Newman) gritty battle from his poor, street-wise childhood to his prison term (where he developed his boxing skills) and his eventual success as the middleweight boxing champion of the world. Adapted from Graziano's autobiography. Superior performance by Newman (in his third screen role, after the miserable "The Silver Chalice" and forgettable "The Rack"); screen debuts for McQueen and Loggia.
