Price turns in a fine performance portraying the sinister Matthew Hopkins, a real-life 17th-century witchhunter. No "ham" in this low-budget, underrated thriller, based on Ronald Bassett's novel. The last of three films from director Reeves, who died from an accidental overdose in 1969.
