A lushly romantic version of the art world in the late 19th century, when art was exploding in new forms and independence for women was unheard of. Young sculptor Claudel's (Adjani) tragic love for art, Auguste Rodin (the larger-than-life Depardieu), and independence clash, costing her sanity and her confinement to an insitution for the last 30 years of her life. Very long, it requires an attentive and thoughtful viewing. In French with English subtitles.
