Mob attorney Barrymore finds trouble after his boss sets him up as District Attorney and he decides to go after his old cronies. His ex-prostitute lover gets caught in the middle after he dumps her for a powerful politico's daughter. Contrived, improbable story succumbs to star-quality lead acting from Barrymore. Remade in 1937 with Lee Tracy as "Criminal Lawyer."
