An acclaimed adaptation of the Tennessee Williams play about Chance Wayne, a handsome drifter who travels with an aging movie queen to his small Florida hometown, hoping she'll get him started in a movie career. However, coming home turns into a big mistake, as the town boss wants revenge on Chance for seducing his daughter, Heavenly. Williams's original stage ending was cleaned up, providing a conventional "happy" movie ending for the censors. Remade for TV in 1989 with Elizabeth Taylor and Mark Harmon in the lead roles.
