A semi-mature, successful teen romance about an offbeat loner Lloyd Dobler (Cusack, in a winning performance), whose interested in the martial arts and going after the beautiful class brain, Diane Court (Skye), of his high school. Things are complicated when her father James (Mahoney) is suspected of embezzling by the IRS. Joan Cusack, John's real-life sister, also plays his sister in the film. Works well on the romantic level without getting too sticky.
