Romantic comedy set in the Big Apple has secretary Tess McGill (Griffith) working her way to the top in spite of her manipulative boss Katherine Parker (Weaver in a powerful parody). Tess gets her chance to shine when Katherine breaks a leg and she strikes a business deal with Jack Trainer (Ford)that turns to romance. A 1980s Cinderella story that's sexy, funny, and sharply written and directed. Nice work by Ford, but this is definitely Griffith's movie. And keep an eye on Tess's gal pal Cynthia (Cusack).
