This HBO miniseries was adapted from reporter David Simon's book "The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood" that neighborhood being Fayette Street in Baltimore. This corner is the local hub of drug activity that draws in members of the same family: Fran Boyd (Alexander) and Gary McCullough (Carter), who are both addicts, as well as their 15-year-old son DeAndre (Nelson). His parents are losing the battle to keep DeAndre away from drugs, gangs, and other trouble but when Fran learns that DeAndre's equally young girlfriend is pregnant, it spurs her into rehab and the hope of making something right.
