Bartleby Movie Review 2001

Contempo version of Herman Melville's 1856 novella "Bartleby the Scrivener." Eccentric Bartleby (Glover) is the model of efficiency when first hired to do clerical work in a nondescript records office. But gradually Bartleby begins to refuse tasks, then to do anything at all--even firing him has no effect to the consternation of his boss (Paymer) and the bewilderment of his co-workers.
