Uneven but affecting look at several couples trying to define their romantic relationships. Middleaged divorcee Katharine (Redgrave) is jealously in love with her younger live-in lover, Rick (Connick), and very fond of throwing dinner parties. But Katharine's latest soiree not only includes two other couples who are also romantically questionable but an eccentric psychic (Daly), who sees two ghosts in the house (Hurt, Mathis) and makes an ominous prediction. Too many stories clutter the film, particularly since the best performances come from Redgrave and Connick (with Daly offering comedic support).
