The treacherous Shao-Khan brings his evil horde of video-game villians through a portal ripped in the universe and threatens to destroy the Earth in this highly unneccesary sequel. Liu Kang and his buds are on the scene to once again do battle to save humanity. Moves from one badly staged fight scene to another with little story or acting (except for Remar in the role of Rayden, replacing Christopher Lambert in the first "Kombat"), and adults should quickly tire of the non-stop back flips and somersaulting that combine with computer graphics to give each character their own special abilities. Kids and gamers, however, should enjoy the new characters, the same-sounding pulse-pounding techno music, and the non-stop, but fairly bloodless, violence.
