A Trip to the Moon Movie Review

Primitive, but pioneering; this is perhaps the first science-fiction film. Up to this time, audiences had been thrilled by photographed events such as a train arriving at a station. Frenchman George Melies, a professional magician, opened up a whole new world of imagination with stop-motion photography, multiple exposure, and other ingenious camera tricks that gave birth to the art of special effects. This film is perhaps best known for the bit in which a rocket is launched into the eye of the Man in the Moon. Based on Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon and H. G. Wells’ First Men in the Moon. AKA: A Trip to Mars; Le Voyage dans la Lune.
