The Punisher Movie Review

Marvel Comics anti-hero The Punisher is brought to life in this filmed-in-Australia tale of both justice and revenge. This is what a comic-book inspired movie should look like. Dolph Lundgren does the job as Frank Castle, who, inspired by the mob killing of his family, sets his sights on any and all bad guy types to be found. No shortage of bullets or explosives as one thug after another is judged, juried, and splattered. The Punisher's killing rituals take on a mystical quality as he lashes out from his subterranean sewer headquarters, and the unique “Punisher” skull (normally a part of his costume in the comics) even makes an appearance framed by the stubble of his facial hair. Stan Lee should be proud.

1990 (R) 92m/C Dolph Lundgren, Louis Gossett Jr., Jeroen Krabbe, Kim Miyori; D: Mark Goldblatt; W: Boaz Yakin; C: Ian Baker; M: Dennis Dreith. VHS, Beta, LV LIV
