Octaman Movie Review

This film is very nearly as bad as the title suggests. A hideously non-threatening octopus-man is discovered by scientists in Mexico, who are also occupied with a tiresome love triangle. This is basically a rip-off of the classic Creature from the Black Lagoon, which coincidentally was written by Octaman’s director Harry Essex. A young makeup wiz named Rick Baker designed the octopus man before going on to do swell work in American Werewolf in London, while female lead Pier Angeli died of a drug overdose during filming. As big a mess as this film is, those who love monsters will likely find a place in their hearts for the shambling, rubbery Octaman. They don't make monsters like him anymore (well, hardly ever).
