Master of the World Movie Review

This charming aerial version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is actually based on two Jules Verne novels, Clipper of the Clouds (known in America as Robur the Conqueror), and Master of the World. Vincent Price plays Robur, a fanatical-but-genius-type 19th-century inventor who flies his incredible fortress, the Albatross, around the world attacking only men and weapons of war, unless someone else gets in the way. Charles Bronson, whose began his career in Price's horror classic House of Wax, is the government agent trying to stop the moral(?) killing. American International spent a lot on this one and it shows. Richard Matheson's entertaining screenplay cohesively merges the two novels and Lex Baxter's score is what adventure music should be. Also available letterboxed on laserdisc.
