The Martian Chronicles: Part 3 Movie Review

Subtitled “The Martians,” this final chapter of the Ray Bradbury adaptation manages to pull various story threads together, but purists will still simmer at the liberties taken with a classic book – like casting luscious Bernadette Peters as a character who on paper was grossly fat and unattractive. After one of Hollywood's cheaper nuclear holocausts engulfs Earth, a handful of lonely human remnants languish on an abandoned Mars, until Rock Hudson and his family finally figure out how the planet holds the secret of mankind's destiny.

1979 97m/C Rock Hudson, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Connelly, Fritz Weaver, Roddy McDowall, Bernie Casey, Nicholas Hammond, Darren McGavin, Gayle Hunnicutt, Barry Morse; D: Michael Anderson Sr.; W: Richard Matheson. VHS, Beta FRH
