Making Mr. Right Movie Review

Despite an inspired performance from Ann Magnuson as an “image consultant,” Susan Seidelman's off-beat satire is never as funny or as enjoyable as it ought to be. The most promising elements of the plot aren't developed while the most irritating run amok. John Malkovich plays the dual role of a scientist and his innocent robot creation. The unbalanced film begins as Splash with the sexes reversed, wanders into social satire for a time, and almost becomes a bedroom farce before it sputters to an unconvincing conclusion.
