Last Days of Planet Earth Movie Review

More interesting as a societal symptom than entertainment, this Japanese doomsday movie focuses on scientists and their families who witness a build-up of pollution responsible for giant mutant slugs, marauding bats, freak weather conditions, birth defects, and other environmental calamities. Positively gleeful in describing how bad things could possibly get, it inserts footage from previous Toho disaster flicks like The Last War and The Submersion of Japan, then abandons pretense of narrative to become a documentary about the prophecies of Nostradamus! Join our doomsday cult, listen to our leader, be saved. Where have you heard that one before, reader-san? Dubbed in English. AKA: Prophecies of Nostradamus; Catastrophe 1999; Nostradamus No Daiyogen.
