Invasion of the Space Preachers Movie Review

A wrong-headed attempt to make a sf satire on crooked evangelists. Two sub-moronic yuppies take off for a weekend in the boondocks; they encounter the usual inbred backwoods stereotypes and a crashed alien who transforms into a gorgeous blonde named Nova. As if that weren't enough, Nova (who downs cans of beer with one gulp) informs them that the local preacher, Reverend Lash, is actually a fellow extraterrestrial bent on world domination. The sneeringly charismatic Lash controls his flock by means of a whip and tiny radio-implants that can control behavior or make believers’ heads explode. This flick tries hard to please, and there's some good music lurking around in it, but the acting is pretty lifeless and the humor never rises above the level of T&A and outhouse jokes. Yee-haw!
