The Incredible Shrinking Woman Movie Review

A good-natured spoof of The Incredible Shrinking Man, with some inoffensive social satire. Various environmental toxins combine to slowly shrink homemaker Lily Tomlin down to doll-house size. Everyday chores suddenly become “big” challenges, and just as she starts getting comfortable with her new size, she's snatched by a cabal of scientists who want to similarly down-size (er, right-size?) the rest of the world. Suddenly the tiny Tomlin must become a hero. The cuteness starts shrinking a bit itself towards the end, but Tom-lin is charming, and the satire still works today. That's makeup wizard Rick Baker in the gorilla suit, by the way.

1981 (PG) 89m/C Lily Tomlin, Charles Grodin, Ned Beatty, Henry Gibson, Elizabeth Wilson; Cameos: Rick Baker; D: Joel Schumacher; W: Jane Wagner; C: Bruce Logan. VHS, Beta, LV MCA
