Godzilla's Revenge Movie Review
Not really a monster movie at all, but actually a strange juvenile drama. A young boy who is having problems with school, family, and local bullies, dreams of going to Monster Island to learn from Minya, son of the boy's hero, Godzilla, who is having similar problems. Using the lessons in real life, the boy captures some bandits and beats up the tough kid who's been bothering him (and even gets the girl). The scenes depicting the boy's bleak urban environment, as well as the harsh lessons he must learn in order to survive there, are more than a little depressing – somewhat at odds with the fantasy-filled adventure that was intended. Shamelessly recycles footage from Godzilla Vs. the Sea Monster and Son of Godzilla for battle scenes. Certainly the oddest Godzilla movie of all. AKA: Oru Kaiju Daishingeki.
