The Flesh Eaters Movie Review

This crudely effective shocker stars Rita Morley as an alcoholic film star who, with her secretary, crashlands on an island inhabited by – what else – a Nazi scientist (Martin Kosleck, a Universal contract player who, by one count, portrayed Joseph Goebbels three times). He is experimenting with sea creatures to develop a solvent for human flesh. The swarming critters were achieved by scratching the film with pins. This one, with its grisly effects and surprising shock ending, just might get under your skin. Director Jack Curtis also directed We Are All Naked. Editor Randy Metzger is also best known for adult films, including I, a Woman, Camille 2000, and The Lickerish Quartet. Restored video release restores the more gruesome footage as well as Nazi experiment flashbacks that were cut from TV prints. Reportedly, Curtis died during production and his widow/co-producer had to scramble to finish shooting.
