Dungeonmaster Movie Review
You can't fault low-budget fantasy producer Charles Band for lack of ambition: this omnibus from his Italy-based Empire studio consists of seven segments, each by a different director in a different genre. Plot concerns a jealous Devil (Richard Moll) deciding to pit his occult powers against computer jock Jeffrey Byron and his portable micro XCALIBR8. Thus, in a series of contests, our hero must rescue his girlfriend from Road Warrior mutants, rotting zombies, a Harryhausenesque stop-motion idol, and the rock band W.A.S.P. It all looks like a slick demo reel for potential investors, but don't phone your broker; Empire went belly-up a few years later. Stirring (but endlessly rerun) musical score by Charles Band's brother Richard. AKA: Ragewar; Digital Dreams.
