Crash and Burn Movie Review

Sputtering futurism from Charles Band, wherein the repressive corporate state crushes dissent by banning home computers (an accurate prediction of the Communications Decency Act?). Ralph Waite is an activist broadcaster out in the wastelands whose TV station is infiltrated by the government's Terminator-style robot assassins. There's a big build-up to the reactivation of a huge, long-dormant robot (special effects by David Allen) to battle the Establishment androids, but the rusty giant falls to pieces after a few moments of screen time. Low budgets will do that to you. Supporting actor Jack McGee does a barbed Rush Limbaugh impersonation.

1990 (R) 85m/C Ralph Waite, Paul Ganus, Eva LaRue, Bill Moseley, Jack McGee, Megan Ward; D: Charles Band; W: J.S. Cardone; C: Mac Ahlberg; M: Richard Band. VHS, Beta, LV PAR
