The Brood Movie Review

An emotionally disturbed woman (Samantha Eggar) falls under the influence of a mad doctor (Oliver Reed). Through his unorthodox treatments, her rage is made manifest in the form of a brood of mutant children. The brood act out her violent emotional states, taking retribution on those who threaten their mother. Director David Cronenberg mixes the traditional mad scientist story with his trademark gross-out special effects, to create a disturbing combination of physical and psychological terror. Remember, mom always said not to make her angry. Look especially for the truly bizarre “birth” scene. Cronenberg's obsession with physical malformities continued with Videodrome, The Fly, Dead Ringers, and Naked Lunch.
