Blue Monkey Movie Review

Definitely a cause for blues, this notoriously mistitled mess of creature-feature cliches has a mysterious tropical plant impregnating a man (!), who upchucks a vile insect larva that spreads disease, initiating lockdown quarantine in a huge metro hospital. Thanks to an obnoxious little boy fond of pouring growth serums on things – you know the type – the worm turns into a giant praying mantis and hunts trapped humans to feed upon. “Blue monkey” derives from a throwaway line of dialogue; well, they couldn't very well have called this “Bad Canadian Alien Ripoff,” right? But we can. AKA: Green Monkey.
