Baron Munchausen Movie Review

The German film studio UFA celebrated its 25th anniversary with this lavish version of the Baron Munchausen legend, and until 1981's Das Boot this was the most expensive film ever made in Germany (and it was made during the height of World War II). Starring a cast of top-name German performers, and featuring several Munchausen “exaggerations” not used in the later renditions (Terry Gilliam's 1989 The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and Karel Zeman's 1961 The Original Fabulous Adventures of Baron Munchausen), including a romp of rabid clothing. The film has stunning special effects and even features its own version of the famous cannonball ride. Still thoroughly charming even when compared to the newer films. Filmed in Agfacolor.
