The Amazing Colossal Man Movie Review

A fairly standard ‘50s sci-fi film about a monster created by atomic radiation. However, where most similar films of this type were content to use giant insects or rats as the heavies, this flick features a human monster. Gung-ho soldier Colonel Manning is exposed to massive doses of plutonium when an experiment backfires (literally) in his face. When his radiation burns heal practically overnight, the doctors figure something unusual is going on; their suspicions are confirmed when Manning begins growing…and growing…and growing….The former good-guy shoots up to seventy feet and starts taking out his anger on a helpless Las Vegas. Can anything stop his murderous rampages? Maybe a really, really big hypodermic needle….
