Alphaville Movie Review

One of Jean-Luc Godard's most accessible films (but still perhaps not quite ready for prime time) stars Eddie Constantine, a B-movie bust in the States, but a star in Paris, where he popularized on film the pulp hero Lemmy Caution. In this sci-fi noir, he is Agent 003, who arrives in Alphaville to search for a scientist who has defected. Contemporary Paris makes an eerie stand-in for the conformist state that is run by a computer, Alpha 60. Now available on video in a digitally remastered, newly subtitled and letterboxed edition. AKA: Alphaville, a Strange Case of Lemmy Caution; Alphaville, Une Etrange Aventure de Lemmy Caution.
