MY LIFE AS A DOG Movie Review

Mitt Liv Som Hund

12-year-old Ingemar Johansson (Anton Glanzelius in a charmingly intelligent, unsentimental performance) is separated from his brother and sent to live with relatives in the country when his brother is taken ill. Unhappy, confused, and going through the normal nightmare of puberty, little Ingemar is struggling to understand sexuality and love while trying to find security and acceptance (not to mention having to live up to the name he shares with the boxing champion). Based on an autobiographical novel by Reidar Jonsson, Swedish director Lasse Hallström's film quickly became one of the cinema's most beloved tales of the joys and trials of growing up, and was one of Sweden's biggest international hits of all time. (It has also been released in an inferior dubbed version, which should be avoided.) Academy Award Nominations, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
