THE CASE OF THE MUKKINESE BATTLE HORN Movie Review
Thief uses brick to smash glass case containing priceless Mukkinese Battle Horn. Thief reaches into smashed case, picks up brick, and runs away. Thief's footsteps fade into the distance, stop, then return. Thief puts back brick, takes Mukkinese Battle Horn, runs away again. If you don't find this bit amusing, take a pass. If, on the other hand, this is just the sort of groan-inspiring that tickles you (I'm admittedly in that camp), then The Case of the Mukkinese Battle Horn will be a tasty and refreshing little reminder of the golden age of one school of very British comedy. The popular and gloriously demented The Goon Show was at its peak in Britain in the mid-'50s, and Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan collaborated on this short subject featuring the talents of much of the regular cast. It's awfully silly, and awfully funny. And what the hell—it's only 27 minutes.
