Twister Movie Review

Twister is THE movie to watch the night that the cable system blitzes out and you're NOT in the mood to watch A Man for All Seasons. Writer/director Michael Almereyda keeps a cool grip on the antics of an oddball family headed by Harry Dean Stanton. Crispin Glover is part of the clan, so that should tell you something. At the time of its San Francisco engagement, I kept asking if Glover could make a personal appearance with the film, but more than one theatre manager patiently explained that anyone who made that many strange flicks just had to be strange himself. And then there was that one night with David Letterman…well, BIG deal and so WHAT, dudes?! This very enjoyable weirdomesticomedy ought to send anyone with a pulse straight to the floor, doubled up with laughter.

1989 (PG-13) 93m/C Dylan McDermott, Crispin Glover, Harry Dean Stanton, Suzy Amis, Jenny Wright, Lindsay Christman, Lois Chiles; D: Michael Almereyda; W: Michael Almereyda; C: Renato Berta; M: Hans Zimmer. VHS, LV
