Three Lives and Only One Death Movie Review

Raul Ruiz is much loved by devotees of international film festivals and not particularly well known outside the festival circuit. The presence of the late Marcello Mastroianni in this 1996 movie may attract a few more viewers, but it's still a typical film festival entry, the details of which tend to blur, not over time, but the instant the closing credits start to roll. It is Mastroianni's ever-wise, always humble face that gives the three tales their momentum. International audiences have trusted the naked honesty of that face since 1947, and wherever Marcello Mastroianni wants to take us, we will go, at least for the length of a movie. AKA: Trois Vies et Une Seule Mort.
