Sudden Manhattan Movie Review

A quirky entry at 1996's Mill Valley Film Festival, Sudden Manhattan is nicely written and directed by Adrienne Shelly, who also stars as Donna. This appealing black comedy is filled with goofy supporting characters (Roger Rees, Louise Lasser) and an oddball story line. Like Shelly herself, it all looks effortless and spontaneous, but clearly some very careful craftsmanship went into it.

1996 80m/C Adrienne Shelly, Tim Guinee, Roger Rees, Louise Lasser, Hynden Walch; D: Adrienne Shelly; W: Adrienne Shelly; C: Jim Denault; M: Pat Irwin.
