Kill Me Again Movie Review

She is a “greedy, two-faced bitch.” He is a member in good standing of the Dumb Dicks of America. As played by Joanne Whalley and Val Kilmer, they are a match made in a casting director's heaven. I first saw Kill Me Again at San Francisco's Geneva Drive-in on a double bill with the Judd Nelson movie Relentless, a film which makes Kill Me Again look like The Maltese Falcon. Actually, Kill Me Again brings to mind quite a few noir classics, including Double Indemnity and Out of the Past. When Whalley takes it off and turns it on, you want to believe every single one of her lies. The film is saturated with sleaze and violence, and it's never boring (which is more than I can say for Relentless). Michael Madsen plays a great old-fashioned psycho and writer/director John Dahl makes interesting use of fire, water, and the rest of the limited resources in this tightly budgeted yarn. If you don't expect Murder My Sweet, you'll have fun.
