Just Another Girl on the I.R.T. Movie Review

Seventeen-year-old Chantel (Ariyan Johnson) dreams about zapping through high school and going on to medical school. Then she meets Tyrone (Kevin Thigpen), has sex with him, fritters away the abortion money he gives her, and her options and dreams scatter like commuters on the I.R.T. Leslie Harris makes a promising directorial debut, newcomer Johnson's portrait of a tough Brooklyn teen is energetic and convincing, and Thigpen is also memorable as sexy Tyrone. A raw, bleak look at a mouthy character who thwarts her own best interests at every turn.
