Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Faster Movie Review

To see three voluptuous evil pussycats do bad things onscreen was an experience not to be missed in 1965! In fact, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! continues to play to packed art houses and commercial theatres to this day. It's a guaranteed rent payer! Tura Satana (The Astro Zombies, The Doll Squad) IS Varla, Haji (Motor Psycho) IS Rosie, Lori Williams IS Billie, Playboy pin-up Susan Bernard (Teenager) IS Linda, Ray Barlow IS Tommie, Paul Trinka IS Kirk, Stuart Lancaster (Mantis in Lace, Mistress of the Apes, Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens) IS The Old Man, Mickey Foxx IS the Service Station Attendant, and Dennis Busch IS The Vegetable! Satana is not only physically impressive, she also knows karate, so when Varla goes into action, she isn't kidding around! The body count in this flick is astonishingly high and so is the level of Jack Moran's fast-paced screenplay. Movie buffs will forever keep a special place in their hearts for director Russ Meyer. He was a sharp, shrewd operator who knew how to tell (and edit) a story, who kept the plots moving, and who had a particular genius for casting actors and actresses with spectacular physical dimensions. His ability to stretch bucks on a budget and his boxoffice receipts were so overwhelming that ailing 20th Century Fox studios invited him to direct Beyond the Valley of the Dolls when they urgently needed a hit in 1970. Anyone remember a few of Fox's other releases that year, like Cover Me Babe, Hello-Goodbye, Move, and Myra Breckinridge? Yeah, yeah, I know, Patton, MASH, and Tora! Tora! Tora!, war movies all. Meyer made love, not war, and even the violence is straight out of a comic book. And, according to Valley Girl Cynthia Myers, Russ Meyer was the most gentlemanly of directors; how many “respectable” male directors can make that claim without crossing their fingers behind their backs? P.S. The Spice Girls co-opted this movie for their Say You'll Be There video.
