The Fable of the Beautiful Pigeon Fancier Movie Review

Ruy Guerra's attractive trifle about a vain and selfish dandy focuses on his obsession for a lovely young matron. It's hard to care much about the dandy since his obsession is so detached and it's harder still to care about the matron since she functions more as a symbol than as a real character. Based on the Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel, Love in the Time of Cholera. Garcia Marquez's Letters from the Park (also made in 1988) is much better. In Spanish with English subtitles. AKA: Fabula de la Bella Palomera.
