Allonsanfan Movie Review

Allonsanfan stars the wonderful Marcello Mastroianni as a grudging revolutionary, circa 1816. This early Taviani film is somewhat uneven compared to their later efforts, but Mastroianni, as usual, makes it all worthwhile. The most meaningful moments occur when the Tavianis permit some honest emotion to creep into the story. The brilliant cinematography is by Giuseppe Ruzzolini.
