Abel Movie Review

Abel is a weird little Dutch film written and directed by its star, Alex Van Warmerdam, who plays a 31-year-old child still living at home with his parents. The film makes an effort to satirize male vanity and male voyeurism, but when it looks at women, it is content simply to ridicule them. Successful satire requires some level of understanding, an element which is missing in this nonetheless amusing 1987 entry in the Mill Valley Film Festival.
